Whether it’s a hot summer day or a cold winter day, the Semenic Mountains are a perfect place to visit all year round. This mountain area is close to the city of Resita, so it is easy to reach by car. The road from Resita to the plateau is in good condition, but you should drive carefully because there are many curves along the way. The journey is beautiful, with forests and fresh mountain air all around.
As you approach the Semenic resort, the scenery becomes increasingly breathtaking. You’ll come across several viewpoints offering sweeping views down into the valley, including Lake Gozna and parts of Valiug village.

Gozna Peak
Once you arrive at the Semenic Resort, you can climb to the highest point in the area, Gozna Peak, which is about 1,446 meters high. From the top, you can enjoy a wide and peaceful view of the surroundings. On clear days, you may even see parts of the city of Resita in the distance.
Below the peak, in the valley, you can see Gozna Lake, a beautiful lake near the village of Valiug. The lake adds to the charm of the landscape and is a popular spot for relaxing or spending time in nature.
From Gozna Peak, you can also see other mountain ranges, such as Muntele Mic and the Tarcu Mountains, which rise in the distance and create a stunning panoramic view.

Saint Elijah Hermitage
Not far from Gozna Peak, you can find the small and peaceful Saint Elijah Hermitage. Surrounded by nature, this quiet place offers a calm atmosphere where visitors can stop, rest, and enjoy the silence of the mountains. It is a simple but beautiful spot, perfect for a short break while exploring the area, and a place where you can take in both the spiritual feeling and the natural beauty around you.

Semenic Peak
As you drive toward the plateau, you will pass through a road surrounded by tall pine trees. Along this road, on the left side, you can see Semenic Peak, which is slightly lower than Gozna Peak, with a height of about 1,440 meters. Even though it is not the highest point, it is still an important and beautiful part of the mountain landscape.

Below, I’ve shared a few photos of this beautiful place so you can get a better sense of its charm and scenery.

In conclusion, The Semenic Mountains are a great place to escape the heat, enjoy nature, and relax in a quiet and refreshing environment.
It is also important to mention that the Semenic Resort is a popular destination in winter, not just in summer. Many people come here for skiing, thanks to the slopes found in the area. When the mountains are covered in snow, the whole place looks completely different—quiet, white, and very beautiful.
A few years ago, I visited this place during winter, when there was a lot of snow and a light fog. The view was more mysterious, and the atmosphere felt calm and peaceful. It was a special experience to see the same mountains in a different season, showing a new side of their beauty.
